Blue Eyes
David is actually spending more time on his tummy lately! We are hoping this means crawling will start in the next few months! He has figured out how to double roll to get to things and uses his toes to thrust himself forward few inches, while on his side. He won't do it on his belly..I'm guessing it would pull his g-button and pacemaker pocket anyway.
Friday we go to see an eye specialist. David has the most beautiful blue eyes. Unfortunately each morning they are almost always crusted over. He has had blocked tear ducts since birth. It has nothing to do with his Heterotaxy and heart issues, it's just an added issue. Caleb had blocked tear ducts as a baby that opened up on their own at 10mths old. I've been told and read that 90% of babies born with blocked tear duct will have them open on their own by age one. David will be 14 mths on the 28th. I've tried and tried to get them to open using massage and drops but to no avail. I'd be sooooo happy if I could just pray them open! Unfortunately tear duct surgery seems to be in David's future. I haven't given up hope that they will open before the surgery date but I do feel it's time to look into surgery. Each of the 500 times a day I wipe sleepies, tears, and crusty stuff from his eyes during just one day, I am keenly aware of the bacteria I could be introducing into his system. They just have to be open by flu season! Poor David's eyes get so red from the constant moisture draining around his eyes. I can't tell you how many people ask if he's sick, If he just woke up, if he's been crying, etc! Always so comment like "Poor baby! Are you having a rough day?!"
As for the surgery. It first off will be his 9th surgery and that 's with his g-button, fundo, appendectomy, and Ladds procedures all being counted as one surgery!! 2ndly it should take all of 15 min and be an out patient procedure. Unfortunately for us David will need a cardiology anesthesiologist and special monitoring for heart arrhythmias and such. You just never know how his heart will respond. They will probably want to keep him longer for observation. With David just barely coming out of his "freak out when I see any nurse phase" I am anything but thrilled to put him through more procedures. I have been told though, that David's heart is as stable as it's gonna get right now and that postponing the surgery will only up his risks. All the judgment calls we have to make as parents of this beautiful little guy are giving me grey hair!
We'll prayerfully make this judgement call after we get the information we need on Friday. As always, thank you for your prayers in his behalf!

Davester and Blender food!
He is getting so big!
He's still just tasting foods. Too bad his toes aren't full of calories!
I came downstairs to check on the kids school and David. This is what I found! Apparently the boys like to keep David prisoner!
The kids were playing white team vs black team.
Summer fun had begun! The kids played this freeze tag game with the sprinkler system. If you get sprayed you have to freeze till someone tags you. Good luck hiding! Our sprinklers get every inch of the yard!
Now for the blender food!
This is steamed spinach
After blending it I pour it into nice little containers to freeze.
I then add it to David's blended foods.
These are the ingredients of one of his blender recipes.
The bag under the frozen blueberries holds frozen black beans.
YUM!
I like how as I blend the puree changes colors.

Here is his awesome tube set.
Prime the food through the tube so no air gets into his tummy. Lock it in place and vola!
I had Caleb hold the tube so I could get a better picture.
So satisfying!
He "eats three bottles a day of this stuff and 2 bottle of milk in between!
Meals are ready to go till tomorrow night!
Also the meds in the corner are pre-drawn for tonight's med time!
I think we just might be getting this stuff down a little!
